MORRISTOWN (WATE) – There was an ammonia leak Koch Foods in Morristown.
Hamblen County Emergency Management Director Chris Bell said at around 11:45 a.m. there was an ammonia leak at the plant, located at 123 Fairmont Street. He said 210 people were evacuated from the plant and some surrounding businesses.
Crews entered the plan in protective gear and were able to shut the valve to stop the leak, according to Bell. He said there were no injuries and crews are allowing the ammonia to dissipate. Bell said he expects people to be allowed back in the building at around 4:00 p.m.
Koch Foods produces chicken products.
